Circular 14/24 ANZAC Day 2024

Advice regarding 2024 ANZAC Day Commemorations across the State, including the major events in the Sydney CBD is now available on the RSL NSW ANZAC Day 2024 page.

Commemorations across NSW

By now, sub-Branches should have contacted their local NSW Police Area Command and councils to commence planning commemorative events in their communities.

To ensure people in your community can access local commemorative event information, please add the details of your ANZAC Sunday, Dawn Service, Commemoration and March events to the RSL NSW website by completing this form.

Visitors to the Community Events page, including media outlets, can search for events by location and map view.

ANZAC House has developed posters and social media tiles to promote commemorative events. The event location and time information on the PDF posters can be edited to reflect local arrangements. If you require assistance to do this, please contact
support@rslnsw.org.au.

The promotional material can be found in the sub-Branch Portal under Commemorations, Ceremonies and Events > ANZAC Day 2024.

St John Ambulance NSW

St John Ambulance NSW has generously offered its support to RSL sub-Branches around NSW, providing onsite first aid services at ANZAC Day events free of charge, where possible. If your sub-Branch is interested in engaging St John Ambulance for your Dawn Service, Commemoration or March, please contact events@stjohnnsw.com.au or call (02) 9745 8710 to find out if there is coverage available in your local area at the time of your event.

Major Sydney Commemorations

The following events will take place in Sydney on ANZAC Day:

ANZAC House is corresponding directly with units/ships/squadrons/associations to provide event details for the Sydney CBD March, including registration. If you are the secretary of an association and you haven’t received this information, please complete this form.

Engaging with the veteran community

There are two significant anniversaries that sub-Branches may want to consider incorporating into ANZAC Day commemorations and community engagement activities:

  • 110 years since the start of WWII
  • 25 years since the start of East Timor

Sub-Branch Office Bearers are encouraged to contact local veterans, and families of veterans, who served in WWII or the East Timor conflict to attend commemoration services.

Reunions

RSL NSW is committed to fostering camaraderie and mateship amongst its members and the wider veteran community. To register and promote an ANZAC Day reunion on the RSL NSW website please complete this form.

Member Recruitment Toolkit

ANZAC Day presents a great opportunity to encourage the wider veteran community to join RSL NSW and connect with local sub-Branches. An initiative of the RSL NSW Strategic Plan, the Member Recruitment Toolkit includes a range of promotional recruitment resources, including social media tiles, for use by sub-Branches.

Fundraising

A selection of new tokens, including backing cards, is now available for purchase from the RSL NSW supplier. Our supplier is offering a charity discount on fundraising tokens to the RSL NSW sub-Branch network, including:

  • Rosemary pins – $1.05 each plus shipping
  • Poppies – $1.05 each plus shipping
  • Pens – $2.15 each plus shipping

A limited number of free tokens, formerly owned by Welfare and Benevolent Institution (WBI), are still available to sub-Branches and can be ordered online. Any sub-Branch that places an order will be required to pay a small packing ($0.25 cents per token) and freight charge, however there is no charge for the tokens. Please note that these tokens will have outdated WBI details on the reverse side of the backing cards. The sub-Branch must cover these details before fundraising in the local community.

To place an order for tokens, please visit the Fundraising page on the RSL NSW website.

Sub-Branches are encouraged to fundraise with a view to promoting the ANZAC Appeal and the League’s presence in communities across NSW.
