Circular 3/24 DVA Health and Wellbeing Funding is available

If your sub-Branch has been considering launching a new veteran wellbeing initiative, DVA Health and Wellbeing Funding is available to help you get started.

The program provides start-up funding of up to $2,000 per sub-Branch for opportunities that empower veterans and their families to improve their health and wellbeing. This can include initiatives, like the RSL NSW Sport & Recreation Program, related to physical activity, nutrition, mental wellness, and social connectedness.

How to access the funding from DVA:

Contact the team of Community Support Advisers in NSW/ACT via CSA.NSW.ACT@dva.gov.au to share your activity, program or project idea, and the benefits it will bring. Be sure to mention how the idea for your project came about (surveys, suggestions, feedback, waiting lists, etc.) and the number of local veterans you plan to reach.

Examples of initiatives that have successfully received funding in the past include:

  • Physical activity programs, such as yoga, surfing, lawn bowls, sailing, walking groups and team sports
  • Skills exploration sessions, such as art courses, music programs, singing groups and drama workshops
  • Equipment for ongoing events, such as marquees, BBQs, musical instruments and safety equipment, such as defibrillators

To share your idea, and for more information on the application process, reach out to the Community Support Team at CSA.NSW.ACT@dva.gov.au or call 1800 838 372 and ask for the Community Support Adviser in NSW.
