Circular 42/22 RSL NSW welcomes the Australian Legion of Ex-Servicemen & Women

The Board has approved the merger of the Australian Legion of Ex-Servicemen & Women and RSL NSW and a Charity Business Transfer Agreement has been executed by both parties. The Agreement states a transfer date of 27 September 2022. RSL NSW welcomes all members of the Australian Legion of Ex-Servicemen & Women to the Returned and Services League of Australia, NSW Branch from this date.

All members of the Australian Legion of Ex-Servicemen & Women will be remembered in perpetuity on 10 October each year, the anniversary of the date that the Legion incorporated in 1944.

The Coogee, Cootamundra, Eastern Suburbs, Orange, Riverwood, and Willoughby Legion sub-Branches will be welcomed as chapters under the provisions of the RSL NSW Constitution and Standard Operating Procedure 11 (SOP 11) to the following RSL NSW sub-Branches:

  • Coogee-Randwick-Clovelly RSL sub-Branch
  • Cootamundra RSL sub-Branch
  • Bondi Junction-Waverley RSL sub-Branch
  • City of Orange RSL sub-Branch
  • Penshurst RSL sub-Branch
  • Willoughby RSL sub-Branch

The merger of the Legion is an initiative of Goal 3 of the RSL NSW Strategic Plan 2021-2026. RSL NSW continues to invite other ex-service organisations that are unable to maintain membership or ongoing fundraising to support their charitable purpose to merge. In merging, the RSL wishes to recognise these organisations into the future as they, like the Legion, so their important contribution to supporting veterans is never forgotten.

If you have any questions regarding this merger, please contact the State Secretary via support@rslnsw.org.au.
