Wingham RSL sub-Branch | Nutbush & BBQ

October 13 @ 10:30 am - 2:00 pm

Open to all members and family and friends!!  Bring as many along as possible!

This event is not just about celebrating what we do as volunteers but also about having a lot of fun. We believe it will be an enjoyable experience for everyone involved, and we cannot wait to see you there. It will also be featured in print, radio, and television media.

The event  –  We are going to do the Nutbush dance in Wingham Central Park.

Approximate timings:

  • 10:45 – gather in the park
  • 11:00 – assemble the dancers (hopefully, we will have a few hundred of you)
  • noon – sausage sizzle lunch and camaraderie
  • 14:00 – event complete

This idea is born out of the following…        The fact that the Nutbush tune (of Tina Turner fame) and its dance was fifty years old last August and has been in the news recently.

The dance is unique to Australia and is taught in many Australian schools and,

I have been looking for something special for us to do that fits in with the aims of the RSL NSW Sport and Recreation Program and something that will draw greater attention of the public to the existence of RSL NSW sub-branches and what our hardworking volunteer members do in their communities to help veterans and their families.

General information

This event is not just about fun but also perfectly aligns with the 2024 Veterans’ Health Week (VHW) theme, ‘ Keep Connected’. VHW this year will be held from 13 to 20 October. By participating, you are promoting good health and well-being in veterans’ and families’ everyday lives and shining a spotlight on the importance of social connectedness.
