COVID 19 Response Call out for Volunteer and Paid Work Opportunities

Our partner organisation RSL LifeCare is seeking interest for volunteers and paid roles to support them in the event of a COVID 19 outbreak.

  1. Roles are likely to be offered in rotations of 2 weeks, for those willing to be onsite
  2. Training will be provided by RSL LifeCare via their online learning portal
  3. All travel, accommodation and food costs would be covered by RSL LifeCare

Volunteer Roles

 

Communications Assistance – Remote Work

Task:

In the event of a COVID outbreak at one or more of RSL LifeCares facilities, support to the Communications team in manning the 1300 COVID Outbreak phone line. Answering calls, providing scripted updated information and forwarding messages to relevant personnel/facilities as required.

Skills/Experience required:

  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Good eye for detail.
  • An ability to work from home (computer, WIFI etc)
  • Demonstrated compassion, tolerance, patience and empathy (for call centre work)
  • Competent computer skills (email, Office and video conferencing)
  • Creative flair
  • Good telephone skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute on a communications strategy and on specific tasks within that strategy
  • Previous experience in marketing / communications would be preferable.

 

Logistics Assistance – Remote Work

Task:

In the event of a COVID outbreak at one or more of RSL LifeCares facilities, support to the Logistics team in placing and following up orders for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other supplies required. Includes taking supply requests from facilities and monitoring of stock levels at the RSL LifeCare main warehouse.

Skills/Experience required:

  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • An ability to work from home (computer, WIFI etc)
  • Good telephone skills for communications to internal and external parties, suppliers/providers and coordination/liaison with facilities
  • Awareness of transportation/freight movement considerations
  • Tenacity in follow up and monitoring of orders and requests for PPE and other supplies
  • Competent computer skills (email, Office and video conferencing)

 

Possible Paid Roles

 

Catering Assistance – Onsite Work

Task:

Be able to deploy to a facility with a COVID outbreak, or backfill a permanent RSL LifeCare staff member who deploys to a facility with a COVID outbreak to assist in the preparation, serving and clean-up of meals for residents.

Skills/Experience required:

  • Compliance with Food Safety Standards to HACCP level
  • Assist with basic and general food preparation
  • Customer Service: serving our residents meals and snacks
  • Restocking as required, and after meal periods
  • Dishwashing and cleaning of the kitchen, equipment and dining areas
  • Fast, effective service throughout busy periods – with a smile
  • Assisting the broader team as required
  • Work cooperatively as a team member with constructive communication
  • Maintain a clean, efficient and professional work environment
  • Adhere to work practices and procedures as designated within work area
  • Adhere to the Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures of RSL LifeCare
  • Maintain a safe work environment at all times, taking responsibility for own, resident, customer and colleagues’ wellbeing.
  • Utilise equipment and resources in a safe manner
  • Attend to any other duties as designated by the Chef from time to time.
  • Present in a positive and professional manner at all times

 

Personal Carer, Enrolled and Registered Nurses – Onsite Work

Task:

Be able to deploy to a facility with a COVID outbreak, or backfill a permanent RSL LifeCare staff member who deploys to a facility with a COVID outbreak to provide high quality, dignified personal and clinical care and support for daily life to a dedicated group of residents.

Skills/Experience required:

Carer

  • Must have a minimum Cert III in Aged Care or equivalent.
  • Previous Aged Care experience desirable

Enrolled and Registered Nurse:

  • Must be an AHPRA Enrolled or Registered Nurse with current registration status and good standing.
  • Previous Aged Care experience desirable
