Circular 21/21 Update on 2021 State Congress and AGM

I wanted to provide an update on plans for this year’s State Congress and Annual General Meeting taking place on 25 and 26 October 2021, at Newcastle Exhibition and Convention Centre (NEX).

ANZAC House is assessing the current COVID situation and any potential impacts this may have on Congress and the AGM. It is important to note that we need to be flexible and adapt to any Public Health Orders that may be in place at the time of the event. More information will be circulated in due course.

I would also like to remind sub-Branches and District Councils that any motions you wish to propose at the AGM are due 10 weeks out, being Tuesday 17 August 2021, in accordance with Constitution Appendix C Clause 2.

The current stay-at-home order is affecting some sub-Branch meetings and therefore the ability to submit motions with sub-Branch endorsement. To manage this and to ensure that all sub-Branches and District Councils have an opportunity for their motions to be reviewed and considered by the Congress Agenda Committee, I ask that motions for the AGM that have not been endorsed due to the current climate, are submitted:

  1. on sub-Branch/District Council letterhead; and
  2. signed by the sub-Branch/District Council President; and
  3. including a statement undertaking to get sub-Branch/District Council endorsement as soon as practicable after lockdown.

For any motion to be included on the Agenda for the AGM after clearance by the Congress Agenda Committee, ANZAC House must be provided with evidence of sub-Branch/District Council endorsement prior to the issue of the Notice of Meeting for the AGM (by 24 September 2021).  Evidence may be provided by submitting minutes of the meeting endorsing the motion to the State Secretary prior to this date.

Thank you for your understanding.
